Golden Apples[]
Recently the latest minecraft prerelease (11w49a) added a 1/200 chance of apples falling from a destroyed leaf block. But what does this mean?
INFINITE GOLDEN APPLES.
These are so hard to find, and are VERY powerful. Before 1.9 Previews, gold was a limited "Nonrenewable" resource. Obviously nobody ever has exhausted their gold supply, but this is possible. (Probably would take billions of years though). Now, you can simply kill a zombie pigman, and get a gold nugget. Nine nuggets= a gold bar, nine gold bars= a gold block. 8 gold blocks+1 Apple= Golden apple. Now, you can have infinite gold apples so you can destroy those pesky creepers.
But what's the most efficient way to do this?[]
Obviously the timber! mod makes tree chopping easier, Here is the most efficient tree farm setup (Underground). For overground setups, just plop down saplings on every available block.
Here's what I found to be the most efficient gold farm with minimal resource exhaustion: [1]
As you can see, the gold farm produces gold very quickly, and depending on the size your tree farm should too. You should end up with a significant amount of golden apples.
But wait!...[]
For a full list of renewable resources, see here.
